I was beyond blessed to be one of the 17 men that went on the mission trip to the Dominican Republic a couple of weeks back. I saw God working in so many ways. Whether that was the Holy Spirit working through my fellow travelers, feeling the presence of God in team meetings, or seeing the light of Jesus in the happiness and joy of the people in the DR who have so little yet find so much to be grateful for. I would say I felt the presence of the Lord most prominently in the personal connections I was able to make through the game of baseball and the love of the Lord with the kids. Even learning one or two phrases in Spanish made the kids’ eyes light up when they realized I really was trying to connect. It was so special to share the word of the Lord with the kids and also get to help with a sport I have grown up loving. I am beyond thankful for the trip, the donors who allowed me to go, and my fellow teammates who were all sources of inspiration for me and my faith walk.
