NYC | Craig

I just returned from my second mission trip to New York City. In the weeks leading up to this trip, things came up that in the past would kept me from going. My asthma was acting up to the point that I called the doctor for medication. A pipe burst on the second floor of my house, flooding the bathroom and leaking through the ceiling into the kitchen below. And I was facing some visa challenges that needed my attention. But trusting God and relying on the prayers of so many people, I stuck to my plan to go. As expected, God showed me what He could do with my willingness to go by healing my body and removing my anxiety.

One of the things on my heart before this trip was to give Bibles to two young men I had met on the first trip. We had stayed in touch, and I was excited to see them again. I pray this will provide opportunities to share more of my faith with them! We had a couple of days to reach out to multiple West African people, inviting them to English classes. The hope is not only that they learn English, but also that they build relationships like the ones I’m forming with the two men I met on my first trip.

One West African believer told us his story. He first heard of Jesus through a missionary team that came to his village when he was a child. They brought a television and showed the Jesus Film – the first time he had ever seen a television. That memory stayed with him through the years, and as an adult, he decided to follow Jesus. He was eventually imprisoned for sharing his faith and escaped when the jailer offered to leave the door open for money. The joy lit up his face as he shared his testimony inspired me and reminded me how little I suffer for my faith.

I am looking forward to future opportunities to serve in Greensburg and on future trips to NYC and Thailand. I encourage you to look for opportunities to either go or support those who do. Both going and sending are essential in God’s plan to reach every nation.
