My trip to Panama was honestly one of the most eye-opening experiences of my life. It was heartbreaking at times, seeing how little some people had, but what struck me the most was how grateful they were. By all accounts, they could have been bitter or angry about their situations, but instead they carried so much joy and thankfulness. It really made me stop and think about how often I take the simple things for granted.
All throughout the trip, I could see God moving. Every single person we talked to was open, welcoming, and accepting; it felt like the whole process was just so smooth. No issues, no resistance, just God making a way for every conversation and encounter. It gave me such peace knowing He was guiding it all.
My biggest takeaway is that when we go out of our way to help others, it ends up feeling more like a reward than a sacrifice. Serving in Panama reminded me that true joy doesn’t come from what we have, but from being there for others and seeing God work through it. It’s something that will stick with me for a long time.
