Pray
"God is at work through missionaries around the world. And praying for them matters. This isn't just a rushed or mechanical exercise.
God has ordained our prayer as a means to accomplish His purpose in the world... when we pray, God works." - David Platt
Pray For Missionaries
Pray for Open Doors
"Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message." - Colossians 4:2-3a
Open doors cannot be taken for granted. Many missionaries work in countries that are difficult to access or in areas that are resistant to the Gospel. But open doors include more than just access to nations and people groups. Individual hearts also need to be open and receptive to God's truth.
Pray that God opens doors of opportunity for our missionaries to walk through so they may preach the Gospel and live a Godly life before people who have not heard or responded to Christ.
Pray for Clear Communication
"Pray that I proclaim it clearly, as I should. Act wisely toward outsiders, redeeming the time. Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone. " - Colossians 4:4-6
The words we use when talking are only part of how we communicate. Tone, voice inflection, and non-verbal cues are also a significant part of communication, and they are significantly affected by culture. Missionaries need God's help as they seek to accurately communicate the truth of the Gospel in a way that people can understand and receive it.
Pray that God helps our missionaries to be clear communicators of Christ Jesus.
Pray For The Nations
Jesus Loves Them All
"...whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life." - John 3:16b
There are over 7 billion people around the world, and regardless of what they believe, Jesus loves them all. Over 5 billion are not followers of Jesus and roughly 2 billion have never even heard the Gospel. Most of them won't ever hear unless somebody goes to tell them. At the same time, roughly 130,000 people are dying every day without having a relationship with Jesus -- their only hope for salvation. The problem is both MASSIVE and URGENT.
The God of Creation loves each individual on this planet intimately. In fact, He loves them so much that He sent His only Son to die for them (see John 3:16 above). That is why in Matt. 28:19-20 he tells us:
"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
